Types of wheelchairs

By control type:

By folding type:

  • Detachable: Can be fully disassembled into separate parts for easy transportation and storage.
  • Foldable: Feature a mechanism that allows them to fold and reduce in size. Different folding mechanisms affect compactness and ease of use.
  • Non-foldable: Have a rigid frame and are not designed to fold. Typically used at home or in institutions.

By purpose:

  • For indoor use: Lightweight and maneuverable wheelchairs designed for movement inside buildings.

Anti-decubitus inflatable mattresses

Vizyobed inflatable anti-decubitus mattresses have been developed and manufactured to address the problem of pressure ulcers caused by constant pressure, which leads to necrosis of soft tissues located between bony prominences and the bed surface in weakened and critically ill patients who remain immobile for extended periods of time.

Pressure ulcers and the treatment process of such wounds are extremely labor-intensive and economically costly. Therefore, Vizyobed is an inflatable anti-decubitus mattress designed to prevent the formation of pressure ulcers, reduce treatment costs, minimize staff workload, and save valuable time.

Research

Studies have shown that the development of pressure ulcers is based on three main causes:

  • Limited patient mobility

  • Incontinence, sweating, etc.

  • Impaired tissue trophism and friction

After thoroughly researching and analyzing the key factors that lead to ulcer (bedsore) formation, a product was developed to provide an optimal solution — the Vizyobed system. This system redistributes the pressure exerted on the patient from prolonged immobility using the AB system, helping to prevent the formation of pressure ulcers.

Vizyobed PLUS

Vizyobed Plus operates using a system of alternating inflated and deflated air chambers, with 5-minute cycles and 1-minute transitions, ensuring complete pressure relief at any given point.

The first pump is used to evenly distribute pressure across the mattress. The second pump continuously directs ambient air onto the patient’s back through special channels in the mattress, preventing perspiration. This eliminates the second main cause of wound formation. Additionally, both pumps serve as backups for one another.

Vizyobed Plus is designed for direct connection to an oxygen panel via a fourth inlet. This enables the delivery of humidified oxygen (using distilled water) to the wound area, supporting tissue healing when needed.

Vizyobed Pro

Vizyobed Pro operates on the following principle: positioning the patient at a 30-degree angle for 5 minutes to the right, then 1 minute in a horizontal position, followed by 5 minutes to the left and another 1 minute horizontally. Then, again 5 minutes to the left with a subsequent 1-minute flat transition. This cycle redistributes pressure from a single point to different areas of the body, moving various parts and eliminating one of the primary causes of ulcer formation.

The first pump is used to distribute pressure throughout the mattress. The second pump continuously directs ambient air to the patient’s back (through special channels in the mattress), preventing sweating. This addresses the second major cause of ulcer development. Both pumps serve as backups for each other. Vizyobed Pro is also designed for direct connection to an oxygen panel via the fourth inlet, providing concentrated oxygen support to promote wound healing when needed.

In both mattress models, the problem of ulcers caused by friction is resolved, as pressure is evenly distributed across the patient’s body without subjecting any specific area to shear force. Thus, the system as a whole prevents the formation of pressure ulcers.

Lower limb prostheses are artificial replacements for lost legs or feet, designed to restore walking, standing, and other motor functions. They are made from various materials and come in different designs depending on the level of amputation and the individual needs of the patient.

Types of lower limb prostheses:

By level of amputation:

  • Foot and ankle prostheses: Replace only the foot and/or ankle joint. They can be passive (non-movable) or active (with movable joints).
  • Below-knee prostheses (transtibial): Replace the entire lower leg. These require a more complex design and suspension system.
  • Above-knee prostheses (transfemoral): Replace the entire leg above the knee. These are the most complex prostheses, requiring advanced technologies and a highly individualized approach to fabrication.

By construction type:

  • Mechanical prostheses: Simpler and more affordable prostheses that use mechanical joints and springs to simulate movement.
  • Microprocessor-controlled prostheses: Modern prostheses that use microprocessors to control movement and adapt to various walking conditions. They offer greater comfort and functionality but are more expensive.

By attachment method:

  • Socket suspension: A traditional method that uses a socket to secure the prosthesis to the residual limb.
  • Vacuum suspension: A modern method that provides more secure and comfortable fixation using vacuum technology.
  • Joint-based suspension: Used for above-knee prostheses and allows for more natural movement.
